Encountered identical issue on macOS Catalina 10.15.5 with gcc/g++ version
10.2.0 and gdb version 10.1, both installed with brew.  Was able to debug f=
ine
using "gdb filename", but using "gdb" and then in command prompt "file
<filename>" causes same bug as described by Jim above.  This makes debugging
with tools like Eclipse CDT or ddd impossible.
