Fedora until recently shipped gdb with patches from archer that included the
--python command line option. RHEL 7 and 8 still ship with a gdb that has this
option.

 This is very useful for advanced scripting of gdb. I was hoping this feature
could be added to mainline gdb.

I have also created an issue in Fedora's issue tracker to bring it back there,
but I think the feature is simple and generally useful, so why not put it in
gdb proper.
