I probably don't understand how this all works.  When I see a relocation
".debug_macro + 0" in a .o file, what does that mean.  The value should be
replaced with the start of the .debug_macro section, or the start of the
.debug_macro contribution from that .o?

But you are right, when I link with gold, the imports have sensible offsets=
 and
not 0.
