With a gdb 13.1 based package, I run into:
...
(gdb) PASS: gdb.base/printcmds.exp: print *&{4,5,6}[1]
print {unsigned char[]}{0xffffffff}^M
$749 = "\377\377\377\377\026"^M
(gdb) FAIL: gdb.base/printcmds.exp: print {unsigned char[]}{0xffffffff}
...

Somehow we end up with a char array of length 5.
