Occasionally I've wished the status bar were a bit more
configurable.

Perhaps it could be done using something like the existing
extended-prompt format.

Colorizing various parts of it might be nice to have.

Letting it be multi-line might sometimes be useful.

Maybe one way to solve everything would be to let Python
TUI windows request a max height as well; then users
could just write their own completely in Python.
