With python 3.12, we have the same value set using PyErr_SetObject:

(gdb) p (int)PyObject_Print(key,stderr, 0)

nonexistent$2 = 0
...
but fetch a different value using PyErr_Fetch:
...
gdb) p (int)PyObject_Print(error_value,stderr, 0)
KeyError('nonexistent')$3 = 0
(gdb) p (int)PyObject_Print(error_value,stderr, 1)
'nonexistent'$4 = 0
...
PyErr_Fetch has been deprecated in python 3.12, I wonder if that is relevant
somehow.
