'nm' vs. 'nm -C' on the file(s) should help. The internal error happens gdb -ex 'b internal_error' -ex 'b print_command' -ex r -ex 'p cp_canonicalize_string("exact_unsigned_base_helper")' --args ./gdb -ex 'print 1' but GDB does not expect it could demangle such name itself.
