I want to debug my  new code in LMMAPS program.

I type gdb ./lmp_linux. It has a error as below. Is it a bug?

This GDB was configured as "x86_64-suse-linux"...

If GDB segfaults for whatever reason it is bug.  But there is not enough
information to ascertain the problem.  What version of GDB are you
using?

Type:

gdb --version

That's a somewhat ancient version of GDB.  Can you install a new
snapshot? GDB 7.3 is about to be released, so the newest stable release
is 7.2.
