On my RedHat 7.3 system, which came with glibc 2.2.5, I installed glibc 2.3.2,
which works fine. There is a directory, /usr/include/linux , on this system.
Various source programs and other header files reference files in this
dorectory. For example, /usr/include/sys/errno.h indirectly includes
/usr/include/linux/errno.h. The contents of this directory were not changed
after installing 2.3.2. I have a sort of feeling they should have been.

The filenames in this directory are roughly the same set of filenames as I see
in /usr/src/linux/include/linux (where /usr/src/linux is a symlink to the
current kernel). That seems to imply some relationship with the linux kernel.
However, /usr/include is userspace and so it seems to me that the contents of
this directory should "match" (be provided by) the currently installed libc.

If anyone knows, could you please advise who/what is responsible for maintaining
/usr/include/linux

John

This directory is not part of glibc, it has to be maintained as part of
the distribution.
