my 2.3.5 checkout from cvs has:
[...]work/armv5te-linux/glibc-2.3.5+cvs20050627-r2/libc/ports/sysdeps$ ls
am29k am33 arm cris CVS i860 i960 m88k standalone tahoe unix vax z8000
while the 20060220 snapshot tarball I downloaded from ftp.gnu.org has:
[...]work/armv5te-linux/glibc-2.3.6+cvs20060220-r0/libc/ports/sysdeps$ ls
am29k am33 cris CVS i860 i960 m88k standalone tahoe unix vax z8000
So I get 'the arm is not supported' when configure runs :(

It's likely you are just confused. Both libc and ports in CVS have a trunk and
a glibc-2_3-branch branch. In the 2.3 branch, arm is in libc and not in ports.
In the trunk, arm is in ports and not in libc. There are snapshot tarballs of
both branches available for ftp. You need trunk libc with trunk ports or 2.3
libc with 2.3 ports.
