I've noticed this when doing a cross-build based on recent sources.  It
is probably harmless, but I think the cross-*.o files should be excluded
from this examination.

That's because $(addprefix cross-,$(rpcgen-objs)) are included in extra-objs
which is the easiest way to have them considered for +depfiles.
