            Bug ID: 16295
Summary: Inconsistent ordering in DNS resolver state
           Product: glibc
           Version: 2.18
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: libc
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: sekletar.m at gmail dot com
CC: drepper.fsp at gmail dot com

Created attachment 7315
  --> https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=7315&action=edit
resolv.conf

In case if DNS resolver is configured with both IPv4 and IPv6 nameservers there
is an inconsistency in ordering of internal structures in resolver state
structure. Please find in the attachment resolver configuration and minimal
example case which should exhibit the problem.

Sample output of example program from my machine:

(nil) 0x882250 (nil)
2 2 32767

Note that in the first row, there are printed out pointers to structures
representing IPv6 nameservers and second one is not nil, which reflects actual
ordering in resolver configuration file.

Second row contains printed out value of sin_family field for each IPv4
nameserver. First two numbers are 2, which is in fact value of PF_INET macro,
representing IP protocol family. Third value is some arbitrary value, because
in configuration there are only two IPv4 nameservers.
