It also states syscalls does not abort transactoin neither they run in transactional state. To avoid side-effects being visible outside transactions, GLIBC with lock elision enable issues a transaction abort instruction just before all syscalls if hardware supports hardware transactions. https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=glibc.git;h=7cb8358e83af829ba2756182d7d5a25ebb292fac commit 7cb8358e83af829ba2756182d7d5a25ebb292fac Author: Adhemerval Zanella Date: Wed Jun 25 15:13:46 2014 -0400 PowerPC: Add adaptive elision to rwlocks This patch adds support for lock elision using ISA 2.07 hardware transactional memory for rwlocks. https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=glibc.git;h=486e99da18df01e8cabbcaa578fcb6402c479a54 commit 486e99da18df01e8cabbcaa578fcb6402c479a54 Author: Adhemerval Zanella Date: Fri Mar 21 08:26:59 2014 -0400 PowerPC: Adjusting LE mutex destroy This patch adjust the pthread_mutex_t destroy to take acocunt of lock elision. https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=glibc.git;h=f4335e87a7d5e2339123fbeaa0ef2f8f7797e6d4 commit f4335e87a7d5e2339123fbeaa0ef2f8f7797e6d4 Author: Andreas Schwab Date: Thu Mar 27 16:50:04 2014 -0400 Skip checks in pthread_mutex_destroy when doing elision When doing elisison the __nusers field is not updated, thus can have an arbitrary value.
