Subject: [Bug dynamic-link/26627] New: Add ldd flag to disable hardware optimizations
Date: Wed, 16 Sep 2020 13:17:27 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-26627-131@http.sourceware.org/bugzilla/> (raw)

https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=26627

            Bug ID: 26627
Summary: Add ldd flag to disable hardware optimizations
           Product: glibc
           Version: unspecified
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: dynamic-link
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: fweimer at redhat dot com
  Target Milestone: ---
             Flags: security-

ldd is sometimes used for discovering dependencies. Loading optimized libraries
can interfere that because it reflects the capabilities of the machine that ldd
is run on. Rather than teaching ldd users all the ways to disable loading
optimized libraries, I think we should offer one central flag for that.
