Subject: [Bug dynamic-link/29522] New: Missing invalidation of the link map cache in __cxa_thread_atexit_impl
Date: Thu, 25 Aug 2022 09:11:14 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-29522-131@http.sourceware.org/bugzilla/> (raw)

https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=29522

            Bug ID: 29522
Summary: Missing invalidation of the link map cache in
                    __cxa_thread_atexit_impl
           Product: glibc
           Version: 2.37
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: dynamic-link
Assignee: unassigned at sourceware dot org
Reporter: fweimer at redhat dot com
  Target Milestone: ---
             Flags: security-

__cxa_thread_atexit_impl uses the TLS variables dso_symbol_cache and lm_cache,
but the cache is not invalidated in dlclose. This means there is an ABA bug,
and we could use the wrong link map for a stale dso_symbol value.
