For those not on gsl-announce, the 1.2 release is available now.
A few things not mentioned in the NEWS file,

- libtool versioning is now enabled, so shared libraries should get a
proper .so.x.y.z suffix to handle changes in the library API/ABI.

- patches can be applied to the released tar files without triggering
the rebuild rules for auto-generated scripts (i.e. the configure file
uses AM_MAINTAINER_MODE).

You should be able to grab the 1.1.1-1.2 patch and apply it to the
1.1.1 tree this time without problems.  Earlier patches were correct,
in terms of file contents, but there were issues with timestamps which
used to break the build.
