cygwin build error

cygwin build error

I recently set up cygwin for yet another attempt at compiling insight 
(seeing that the version of insight that comes with cygwin refuses to 
display source view (why?)), checked out the latest sources and started 
compiling. I tried using both mingw32 and cygwin gcc, and both stopped at 
the same point. I'll repeat the error message from the cygwin attempt:

make[3]: Entering directory `home/Karukef/src/bfd/po´
file=./`echo fr | sed ´s,.*/,,´`.gmo \
  && rm -f $file && PATH=../src:$PATH msgfmt -o $file fr.po
msgfmt: not found
make[3]: *** [fr.gmo] Error 127
Make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/Karukef/src/bfd/po´
...

Any help would be appreciated. I used to have an old working version of 
insight, but after installing cygwin and it's insight at some point I now 
no longer have a debugger.

What part of "msgfmt: not found" isn't understood? You don't have msgfmt
on your system. Go to http://www.cygwin.com/packages and install the
package containing this tool.

Ok, re-reading that came out sounding a little harsh. Well, okay, a lot
harsh, but that wasn't really my intent, which was meant to be more
sarcastic than harsh.

If anyone has taken offense at this, please accept my apologies, and
send me money, because no one pays me to support Insight. :v)

As long as we're sending money then cygwin users should send some
fraction to me, too.

Is your PayPal account all set up for the massive influx of cash, Keith?
I think there is a $100K limit, IIRC.  I hope that won't be an issue.

Ahh, but note again both the sarcasm and the careful diction. "If you
are offended ... send me money" (or scotch, vodka, wine, etc). Lord
knows, you deserve a lot more than I do. Given the history of Insight,
Lord knows that I have less and less interest supporting it for nothing.
Heck, it won't even ever help me get a job. I can probably name six or
seven companies that distribute Insight as a product and come to this
list with bugs.

Well, I'd better make sure that I set up an oversees account capable of
handling this...
