while this works, many files are added several times, e.g.
% jar tf ../tools.zip |grep classes/com/sun/javadoc/ProgramElementDoc.class
classes/com/sun/javadoc/ProgramElementDoc.class
classes/com/sun/javadoc/ProgramElementDoc.class
classes/com/sun/javadoc/ProgramElementDoc.class
classes/com/sun/javadoc/ProgramElementDoc.class
classes/com/sun/javadoc/ProgramElementDoc.class
If one wanted to go this path, one would need to prune all but the deepest
directories.
