Hi,

I got this error message as well. After configuring
libgcj and gcj with exact the same --prefix directory
it went away.

Hope this helps,

Joerg

This is now GCC PR 21325.

Libjava was disabled for 4.0.0 as it caused a crash in the compiler when
build. It really should be re-enabled for 4.0.1 as the bug has now been
fixed. I will file a bug for this.

hi,

I just installed gcc-4.0 on a Mac OS X 10.4 machine. I
followed the instructions and the installation went
smoothly.

Now, every time I try to run gcj, I get this error
message:

    gcj: libgcj.spec: No such file or directory

I tried rebuilding/reinstalling gcc a couple of times
but it didn't fix the problem.

If anyone has suggestions on how to fix this error,
I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Yariv

   Hello!

   I have installed the gcc-2.95.2 and libgcj-2.95.1:

   $ gcc -v
   Reading specs from
 /usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/2.95.2/specs
 gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)

  Configure and build processes do not report problems. But when I try to
execute the gcj:

   $ gcj --main=HelloWorld -o HelloWorld HelloWorld.java
        ./HelloWorld

   I receive this:

   gcj: libgcj.spec: No such file or directory

   Why? What can I do? My gcc is installed in /usr/local/gcc-2.95.2 and
libgcj in /usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/lib/libgcj-2.95.1

   I found the libgcj.spec (and libgcj.so, libgcj.so.0, etc in
/usr/local/lib, which is in my PATH). I dont understand that.

   My Linux:

   Red Hat Linux release 6.0 (Hedwig)
   Operating System Version #1
   Operating System Release 2.2.5-15
   Processor Type: i586

   Thanks for any help!

   Ivan

What does `gcj -v' say?

Andrew.

  Hello Welsh, Haley, all!

  I put /usr/local/lib in my LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I configured the
installation of libgcj in this way:

  $ pwd
  /usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/lib/libgcj-2.95.1

  $root # /home/ivanfg/libgcj-2.95.1/configure --prefix=/usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/lib/libgcj-2.95.1
  $root # make
  $root # make install

  Part of my enviroment variables are set like this:

CLASSPATH=/usr/local/jdk117_v3/lib/classes.zip:/home/ivanfg/public_html/cgi-bin:/home/ivanfg
HOSTTYPE=i486-linux
PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/lib/libgcj-2.95.1/i586-pc-linux-gnu/li
bjava:/usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/bin:usr/local/jdk117_v3/bin:/home/ivanfg:/usr/local/
bin/gpg:/home/ivanfg/rar:/usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/bin:usr/local/jdk117_v3/bin:/home
/ivanfg:/usr/local/bin/gpg:/home/ivanfg/rar:/usr/local/gcc-2.95.2/bin:usr/local/
jdk117_v3/bin:/home/ivanfg:/usr/local/bin/gpg:/home/ivanfg/rar:/usr/local/gcc-2.
95.2/bin:usr/local/jdk117_v3/bin:/home/ivanfg:/usr/local/bin/gpg:/home/ivanfg/ra
r:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/X11R6
/bin
SHELL=/bin/tcsh
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib

  gcj -v return this:

  $ gcj -v
  gcj: libgcj.spec: No such file or directory

  Any other idea?

  Thanks!

  Ivan
