Community,

The next GNU C Library release, version 2.22, is planned
for the end of July.

I'll be running the release as release manager, and I'll
be working on the modified instructions for the release
to reflect the reality of our rolling stable branches
and more community ability to checkin to stable branches
if the commit was on master.

The tentative timeline looks like this:

1st week of July - Slushy development period.
2nd week of July - Freeze.
3rd week of July - Freeze.
4th week of July - Release.
1st week of August - Development opens.

If anyone objects, please speak up now.

Cheers,
Carlos.

Not an objection, but I'll just point out that if this slips even a few
days, it will put the release/reopening right during Cauldron. (Personally
I'm flying on August 3rd.)

Cauldron is August 7th to 9th, and I will also be attending.

August 3rd is also the "Civic Holiday" in Canada, so I plan to stick
pretty strickly to to releasing on the week of July 27th to 31st.

I think we'll stick firm to the freeze and reopen dates. We have always
said "it's a time boxed release", but allowed wiggle room. This release
we'll be a little firmer.

Cheers,
Carlos.

The dates seems reasonable. I hope I finally push my fmemopen patches to
this release [1] [2].

it would be great to have these locale related patches committed (or
rejected) for the release (IMHO they're all good to go in):

If this is not week 27, Monday in this week is July 6, then let us know.
