Subject: [Bug localedata/2176] New: Please include new locale grc_GR (polytonic/ancient) Greek
Date: Wed, 18 Jan 2006 22:45:00 -0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <20060118224459.2176.markos@debian.org> (raw)
We would like to do some linguistic work on ancient Greek. It is written using
polytonic characters and in reality it's a very different language than modern
greek (el_GR). We thought that having a separate locale was necessary and
since there already was an ISO-639 standard (grc) we set out to write the
actual locale.
It's based on el_GR (only some names are different, not necessary to change
anything, it's about ancient Greek not ancient Greece anyway :-)
