Hello,
it would be really nice if we can get a new Newlib snapshot. I would like to generate a new tool chain for RTEMS using the recently released GCC 6.1 and the type system changes in Newlib for FreeBSD compatibility.

FWIW, I'm still testing the toolchain with GCC 6.1 but so far libstdc++
cannot be built for targets/multilibs with 16- or 20-bit pointers
(PR71133, PR71135).

I looked at both PRs and it seems that no Newlib patch is necessary? Do
you need to patch Newlib as well, which should show up in the next snapshot?

No, just GCC needs to be fixed (possible patch posted).
