based on the comments in the build, looks fine to me.  i can't be bothered
to actually read the standards and EL/IX advice :).

one thing i noticed in the build is the various EL/IX variables are a bit
of a mess.  i half debated standardizing the naming across the subdirs, but
obviously i gave up on that :).
