The process as it is currently planned is: 1. Don't combine the rename with other activities such as hardware or software upgrades. Let's bite off something we can chew, get it done, then look at whatever else we need to address. 2. Make a list of suggested names (the list so far is below, send your submissions to sourcemaster@cygnus.com or just check them in if you have access). 3. Try to reach a decision. The Powers That Be are thinking of just conducting a vote (on the theory that it is largely a question of preference), although we haven't decided for sure whether we plan a more deliberate/structured thing. 4. Implement the rename. This is a lot of work, in that the name appears many places, but it is straightforward. Plan is to do it the same way as egcs.cygnus.com -> gcc.gnu.org, with the old name working for an extended period of time. Suggested names * Sources.redhat.com (can be pronounced "sources.redhat").
