Just got this while trying to check in a patch in gcc:
Cannot open /sourceware/cvs-tmp/#gcc.lastdir.31377: Permission denied
cvs server: Pre-commit check failed
Cannot open /sourceware/cvs-tmp/#gcc.lastdir.31377: Permission denied
cvs server: Pre-commit check failed
cvs [server aborted]: correct above errors first!
Retrying the check in worked, presumably just because it got a
different PID.

Yeah, cvs sometimes leaves us little presents in cvs-tmp.
There's a crontab that removes anything untouched for two days in
that dir--you got lucky. Thanks for the note, though.
