As I mentioned on IRC today, we've been hammered by viruses in the last
couple of days. So, today, I refreshed my memory on the options
available for blocking email at the smtp level with qmail. I have
regenerated a new version of qmail (which is currently running) with
some well-established patches and I plan on implementing a virus
blocking solution over the weekend. I'm testing this now on port 443 of
sourceware and it seems to be woring ok but there are, of course, no
guarantees.
I will also play around with blocking any spam that spamassassin notices
above some arbitrary threshhold -- 18 maybe? This will require some
tweaking to the customized auxilliary spam blocking software so that it
doesn't duplicate the effort of running spamassassin again.
Anyway, this is just a heads up. I don't plan on anything more than
very brief service outages (if that) but if anyone does notice anything
wrong please give a holler on IRC or send me personal email.
