(repost, no reply since January 10, 2006)

Dear Sirs,

Now that gcc moved from cvs to svn, I would like to create a GNU Pascal
branch for the gcc repository. As you know, GNU Pascal is still
maintained separately and I don't think this will change in the near
future. Still, the branch will be a central place where to keep the
compiler updated with

* recent gpc snapshots
* patches to the front-end, posted on the GNU Pascal mailing list (to
add features or to fix bugs)
* patches to the back-end and middle-end, needed to get things working
for various targets.

I read at <http://gcc.gnu.org/svnwrite.html#branches> how to create a
branch, but my understanding is that svn write access is needed, so I
would like to apply for that (solely for the branch). I am an active
member of the gpc development team
(<http://www.gnu-pascal.de/gpc/h-team.html>) and my background is Mac
OS X (<http://www.microbizz.nl/gpc.html>). I signed an FSF assignment
for the GNU Pascal compiler on February 15, 2005 (OS/RT 220644). The
GNU maintainer for GNU Pascal is Frank Heckenbach <http://fjf.gnu.de/>.

Sincerely,

Adriaan van Os

Once your copyright assignment is complete, and if you can get a gcc
maintainer to sponsor a CVS/SVN account for you, you can follow the
usual GCC procedure to get it created. <http://gcc.gnu.org/svnwrite.html>

I read that, of course, but how to "get a gcc maintainer to sponsor a
CVS/SVN account for you".

Discuss your branching plans on the gcc@gcc.gnu.org mailing list. One
of the maintainers is bound to say "go for it!", and approve your
request.
