I got

ssh: connect to host gcc.gnu.org port 22: Connection timed out
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly

and

fatal: unable to connect to gcc.gnu.org:
gcc.gnu.org[0: 209.132.180.131]: errno=Connection timed out

with "git fetch".  It worked OK about 9 hours ago.
