Bug ID: 31905
Summary: turn From: rewriting back on for lists such as
overseers@
Product: sourceware
Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Infrastructure
Assignee: overseers at sourceware dot org
Reporter: fche at redhat dot com
Target Milestone: ---
We used to do broad From:-rewriting on almost all sourceware mailman lists, in
order to preserve the anti-spam crypto hygiene of mails that were forwarded to
mailing lists. Some highly customized patch-payload mailman lists can preserve
those properties without From: rewriting, maybe. But it looks like From:
rewriting was turned off for more lists than that (e.g. overseers@). This
results in legitimate email being flagged/quarantined, especially harming email
originated from sites that made the effort to be fully email hygienic with
SPF/DKIM/DMARC signatures.
This excess enthusiasm against From: rewriting needs to be rolled back.
