Bug ID: 32227
Summary: Removing CoC violating content from inbox and
pipermail archives?
Product: sourceware
Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Infrastructure
Assignee: overseers at sourceware dot org
Reporter: carlos at redhat dot com
Target Milestone: ---
In the upcoming glibc CoCC transparency report here:
https://sourceware.org/glibc/wiki/glibc2024CoCTR
We note reports of CoC violating content on the libc-stable mailing list
carried out by someone that was subscribed to the list. This person has since
been unsubscribed.
Is there a way to remove the violating content (swearing) from the archive?

Sure. For public-inbox one of the inbox admins needs to run public-inbox-learn
rm on the raw messages. For the pipermail archive the simplest way is to chmod
a-r the archive files.
I did both for the messages you posted.

Actually those instructions for the pipermail archive were slightly wrong.
The correct instructions are now on the Email SOP page:
