I've made my mail server a backup MX for sourceware.org, and I've made
it handle overseers@sourceware.org specially. I've copied the
subscription list of overseers to my server. If my mail server
receives a message for overseers@sourceware.org, it will deliver it
directly to the members of the mailing list. Mail to other addresses
@sourceware.org will be queued and delivered to the primary MX as
usual.

The idea is that if sourceware goes down, it will still be possible to
use the overseers@sourceware.org mailing list. Note that
overseers@sources.redhat.com will not work this way--those mail
messages will just be queued and delivered as usual.

Mail sent via this backup route will not be archived in
/qmail/lists/overseers/archive. However, they should be archived on
the web as usual.

I don't have an automated way to update the subscription list, because
I don't know a reasonable way for my server to safely ssh to
overseers, or vice-versa. I guess I could set up a two-step process
of a cron job on sourceware which stores the addresses in a file which
I can pick up via rsync. But I haven't done that yet. Instead I just
have a little cron job which checks whether the subscription list has
been modified, and sends me e-mail if it has.

Let me know about any problems.

Ian
