The RHDB tools are mainly for DBA-type administrative tasks. However, a large percentage of the QA functionality is available in the RHDB Administrator and Visual Explain tools. The RHDB Administrator can create/manipulate/remove objects (databases, tables, indices, etc) and entities (users and groups) within clusters. Visual Explain can be used to analyze query plans. As for future releases of the RHDB Graphical Tools, we are looking at configuration tools, extending the current suite's administrative task functionality (backup, restore, import, etc), and other non application development tools. We have no plans at the moment to develop an application builder. That said, RHDB is powered by PostgreSQL and many of tools for written for PostgreSQL can be used with RHDB. For a community list of tools, visit: http://techdocs.postgresql.org/oresources.php Cheers, Patrick Kent Moya wrote: > > Hello, > > My company is currently evaluating Red Hat Database as a possible > alternative to Microsoft SQL Server 2000, which we are currently using. > I understand that the RHDB graphical tools are still under > development, but I was wondering if there was a list of what kinds of > tools will be made available under this suite.
