Sorry, "." is the build directory, since that is where `make' is run
-- it is the directory containing the Makefile.
$(srcdir) is the corresponding source directory.
$(top_srcdir) is the source directory corresponding to the current top
of tree -- it is the directory where the configure.in corresponding to
this Makefile is located.
