Is there a bugzilla entry to track the problem with attempting to probe
functions in kernel modules? I recalled this being mentioned as being a
problem due to the debuginfo generation, but I looked through the
bugzilla entries on sources.redhat.com/systemtap and didn't see any
entry for the problem.

When talking to one of the Red Hat support engineers who is starting to
use SystemTap, this came up. It would be nice to be able to point him at
something so he know when this has been resolved.

Yes. Unfortunately it's not a systemtap bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=165416
and maybe:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=165528

The botched .ko.debug problem is fixed in rawhide, and has never struck any
released RHEL4 binaries in fact. The build environment issue is fixed in
FC4 as well (FC4 update redhat-rpm-config-8.0.34-1.1), and FC4 update
kernels built since that update should be fine. I think that is
kernel-2.6.12-1.1447_FC4 and later.

Thanks,
Roland

I ran into this problem on a newer FC4 kernel, 2.6.12-1.1456_FC4smp
obtained via yum. Could things still be wrong in red hat's build system
for FC4?

I sure hope not! I'll look at that kernel build.

This rpm does not have the problems that Frank referred to.
If you are having problems, describe them here or file a fresh bug.

Thanks,
