With recent language changes (@defined, try/catch), as well as
tapset changes, it becomes a concern that existing scripts written for
older versions of systemtap may stop working. One way to address this
would be to introduce:
- a stap command line option --stap-compat=VERSION
- which would populate a new systemtap.session field
- which would inform the parser to parse a subset/variant of the language as of
$VERSION
- also provide a preprocessor conditional for tapsets' use
%( systemtap_v >= "1.2" %? ... %: ... %)
