Some analysis of the tarballs from ftp://sources.redhat.com/pub/systemtap/snapshots/ and what the systemtap source RPM use. Ideally, would like to be consistent and have the nightly snapshots be interchangeable with source files used in the systemtap source RPM. night source tarball rpm tarball naming scheme systemtap-%{date} systemtap-%{version} ----------------------------------------------- compression .bz2 .gz ----------------------------------------------- unpack dir src systemtap-%{version} The compressions is not an issue that can be handled by rpmbuild. Just like to have the unpack directory for the nightly tarball be of the form systemtap-%{date}. The systemtap.spec file lies. The systemtap source files are not available at: Source: ftp://sourceware.org/pub/%{name}/%{name}-%{version}.tar.gz The sourceware.org directory has directories for the nightly snapshot tarball, etc., but none of the actual released tarballs. -Will
