I am having trouble running stap in bulk mode on a script that otherwise
works fine. That is, I normally run with just "-g" but with "-g -b" it no
longer works. Here's the output with one -v. Is this a known problem?

OS version: 2.6.16 modified with various real-time patches
stap version: (version 0.5.13 built 2007-02-12) (Using Red Hat
elfutils 0.125 libraries.)

Pass 1: parsed user script and 54 library script(s) in 260usr/0sys/269real
ms.
Pass 2: analyzed script: 6 probe(s), 14 function(s), 3 embed(s), 0
global(s) in 300usr/60sys/356real ms.
Pass 3: using cached
/gsa/watgsa/home/p/e/perryche/.systemtap/cache/4a/stap_4aca05003686bb4d8c3530e87c8a2d4d_11456.c
Pass 4: using cached
/gsa/watgsa/home/p/e/perryche/.systemtap/cache/4a/stap_4aca05003686bb4d8c3530e87c8a2d4d_11456.ko
Pass 5: starting run.
insmod: error inserting
'/tmp/stapUcDLAt/stap_4aca05003686bb4d8c3530e87c8a2d4d_11456.ko': -1
Unknown symbol in module
ERROR, couldn't insmod probe module
/tmp/stapUcDLAt/stap_4aca05003686bb4d8c3530e87c8a2d4d_11456.ko
Pass 5: run completed in 0usr/10sys/30real ms.
Pass 5: run failed. Try again with more '-v' (verbose) options.

Increasing the level of verbosity generates no error/warnings in Passes
1-4 and no additional output in the failing Pass 5.

I haven't seen this before, but you might try looking at the output of
dmesg or looking in /var/log/messages (depending on how your system is
configured) for a better error message from the equivalent of insmod.
Hopefully you'll get the name of the unknown symbol. If that doesn't
work, try running insmod yourself on the cached module and see what you get.
