Subject: [Bug runtime/27301] New: Aarch64 ko compilation failures when CONFIG_COMPAT is defined
Date: Mon, 01 Feb 2021 01:31:00 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-27301-6586@http.sourceware.org/bugzilla/> (raw)

https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=27301

            Bug ID: 27301
           Summary: Aarch64 ko compilation failures when CONFIG_COMPAT is
                    defined
           Product: systemtap
           Version: unspecified
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: runtime
          Assignee: systemtap at sourceware dot org
          Reporter: agentzh at gmail dot com
  Target Milestone: ---

When CONFIG_COMPAT is defined in the kernel's config, stap fails to compile its
runtime on Fedora 32 (kernel 5.10):

```
$ /opt/stap/bin/stap -e 'probe process.function("main") {
println(register("x0")) }' -c ./a.out
```

That part of runtime code does not handle aarch64 at all. A fix is easy.

A patch is under way.
