Subject: [Bug translator/31368] New: make debuginfod downloads interruptible
Date: Sun, 11 Feb 2024 00:50:31 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-31368-6586@http.sourceware.org/bugzilla/> (raw)
https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=31368
Bug ID: 31368
Summary: make debuginfod downloads interruptible
Product: systemtap
Version: unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: translator
Assignee: systemtap at sourceware dot org
Reporter: fche at redhat dot com
Target Milestone: ---
Like bug #29582 (gdb), we need systemtap to react to ^C's when debuginfod
downloads are in progress. For example, try something very slow like:
% stap -L 'module("ac*").function("*")'
and hit ^C. It may or may not interrupt that download, but then proceeds
to the next one. By hitting ^C enough, systemtap's "Too many interrupts
received, exiting" logic eventually fires, aborting the program. It would
be better if that first ^C were immediately interpreted as an interrupt
in whatever part of stap/elfutils is busy with the downloads. This may or
may not require dealing with debuginfod_client level notifier callbacks.
