Hi,
version.texi should be updated automatically
(https://www.gnu.org/software/automake/manual/automake.html ).
I run `git clean -fX` and configured the build with
--enable-maintainer-mode.
gprofng/doc/version.texi has been updated:
% git diff gprofng/doc/version.texi
diff --git a/gprofng/doc/version.texi b/gprofng/doc/version.texi
index 18585d8bdb8..238792ba0e0 100644
--- a/gprofng/doc/version.texi
+++ b/gprofng/doc/version.texi

Well my sources show that it has already been updated to 18 April 2023,
so I guess that this question is moot.

It will be updated automatically.
One of the steps involved in creating the 2.41 release is to rebuild
all of the sources with maintainer mode enabled.
