The MPFR Library
================

The MPFR library is a C library for multiple-precision floating-point
computations with exact rounding (also called correct rounding). It is
based on the GMP multiple-precision library.

The main goal of MPFR is to provide a library for multiple-precision
floating-point computation which is both efficient and has a well-defined
semantics. It copies the good ideas from the ANSI/IEEE-754 standard for
double-precision floating-point arithmetic (53-bit mantissa).

This is an upstream bugfix release for the 4.x series of MPFR. The
4.0.0 release was not made available on Cygwin since at the time it was
already known that this bugfix release would be needed.

This release fixes a packaging error that led to the removal of the
libmpfr4, which provides the former API and is still needed by
applications compiled before the update. The new API is provided by
libmpfr6, while libmpfr4 should remain installed at version 3.1.6-1p1
(which should be the current version of this package). If in doubt,
please manually re-install the libmpfr4 package and check the version
shown in setup.
