As discussed, I've modified the man page locations as follows:
$ tar jtvf mingw-runtime-3.12-2.tar.bz2 | grep man
drwxr-xr-x csutclif/Administrators 0 2007-04-05 14:35:49 usr/share/man/
drwxr-xr-x csutclif/Administrators 0 2007-04-05 14:35:55
usr/share/man/mingw/
-rw-r--r-- csutclif/Administrators 8956 2007-04-05 14:35:55
usr/share/man/mingw/mingw-basename.mingw
-rw-r--r-- csutclif/Administrators 8956 2007-04-05 14:35:55
usr/share/man/mingw/mingw-dirname.mingw
Please upload:

Sorry but I don't think we're there yet.
If you're going to put these in their own section then I don't think
they need the mingw- prefix. I was only thinking that would be
necessary if the manpages were going to be living in /usr/share/man/man1.
If they are going into their own section then I'd like the manpage
maintainer to add mingw to the list of searchable sections.

Fair enough. I'll drop the 'mingw-' prefix and I'll hold-off on
creating a new release until the manpage maintainer is ready for them.
Cheers!

With the newly released man-1.6e-1, I added mingw to MANSECT in
man.conf.
The naming should be
/usr/share/man/manmingw/dirname.mingw
/usr/share/man/manmingw/basename.mingw
for man -S mingw <manpage> to find it.

Thank you, Volker.
Can I get a gold star over here for Chris and Volker for this nice coordination

Excellent, many thanx Volker!
I've modified the manpages accordingly:
$ tar jtvf mingw-runtime-3.12-2.tar.bz2 | grep man

I've uploaded these files.
Thanks again for being so accommodating.
Igor, I hate to saturate the market but I think this kind of coordination
and cooperation deserves gold stars. Could you see to that, please?
Thanks.

No worries.
There does seem to be an issue though:
ironhead@EUSD002605 /usr/share/man/mingw
$ ls
basename.mingw dirname.mingw
ironhead@EUSD002605 /usr/share/man/mingw
$ man mingw basename
No entry for basename in section mingw of the manual
ironhead@EUSD002605 /usr/share/man/mingw
$ man -v
man, version 1.6e

I found the problem. man is expecting manmingw not mingw (for the
section), so what it's looking for is:
/usr/share/man/manmingw/basename.mingw
/usr/share/man/manmingw/dirname.mingw
not
/usr/share/man/mingw/basename.mingw
/usr/share/man/mingw/dirname.mingw
Which makes sense really, given how the existing sections work.
Should I make a new release to work in this fashion, or should man be
modified?

I think a new release of mingw is called for. Sorry.

So, just to confirm, they each get *2* gold stars for this? That is,
those in addition to the ones you asked for before?
