I search for bundled docs to set up sshd and some mount points and surprised
that it placed on path:

  /usr/share/doc/cygwin-2.5.1/html/cygwin-ug-net

As far as I know current Cygwin version is 1.7.

With "cygwin-2.5.1" part I begin to doubt if docs is up-to-date.

So I consult online docs because be unsure if it is actual.

Can we have /usr/share/doc/cygwin-2.5.1 with names like:

  /usr/share/doc/cygwin-1.7

or:

  /usr/share/doc/cygwin-current

or whatever better.

I see /usr/share/doc/Cygwin already have special purpose...

That knowledge is rather inaccurate.

Given the above, that would be very silly.

That would make it needlessly hard for people working on Cygwin itself
to have multiple versions around for comparison.

Now I see that Cygwin as project at version like 1.7.xx now, as in announce:

  https://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-announce/2015-02/msg00009.html
    Updated: Cygwin 1.7.34-6

But Cygwin dll is at version 2.5.1 and I think it like platform API level:

  bash# uname -a
  CYGWIN_NT-5.1 vm-ms 2.5.1(0.297/5/3) 2016-04-21 22:12 i686 Cygwin

My apologies.

Why do you refer to last year's announce?
Why not https://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-announce/2016-04/msg00063.html ?

You know, you don't need to guess on publicly available information?

https://cygwin.com/

Current Cygwin DLL version

The most recent version of the Cygwin DLL is 2.5.1. Install it by running
setup-x86.exe (32-bit installation) or setup-x86_64.exe (64-bit installation).

I finally got it.

I made accidental assumptions and conclusions that led to misunderstanding.

https://www.cygwin.com/ page is not so easy lead to

  https://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/ov-new.html
What's new and what changed in Cygwin

which I want to see in first place.

Thanks for help!

Please feel free to suggest website changes and send matching patches.
The generic website stuff is under git:

  https://cygwin.com/git/gitweb.cgi?p=cygwin-htdocs.git

The User's Guide, the FAQ and the API docs are in the Cygwin repo under
winsup/doc:

 https://cygwin.com/git/gitweb.cgi?p=newlib-cygwin.git

Documentation tends to be a bit back in time (*nobody* wants to write
docs!!1!11) so we appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Corinna
