Hello!
Now I am getting this rather obtuse message:
C:\Windows\system32>net helpmsg 1069
The service did not start due to a logon failure.
Now what would have caused that? I believe I can reset things, but I
am interested in advice from the community. Note: Everything was
working as of yesterday regarding system services.

This usually means the service user account does not have the "Logon as
service" right. You can change that in the "Local Security Policy" MMC
Snap-In under "Administrative Tools".

Gregg,
FYI,
sometime happens that "Corporate" policy resets that right every boot.
So do not be surprised if you need to set again regularly....
