Marco,
With both Cygwin 2.8.0 and the latest snapshot, guild compile hangs.
I'm seeing this in rebuilding either gnutls or even guile itself.

No change with cygwin 2.8.1-0.1. Any ideas?

FWIW, it also hangs when trying to build gdb from GIT sources (in the
gdb/data-directory folder).
>> I see the issue at least on 2.0.
I see it with "current" of Cygwin, i.e. 2.0. The last time it worked
was May 20th, apparently. The first big install after that date, here,
was the big round of Python updae on May 27th.

I will exclude python. It is not a dependency of guile
potential candidates are:
- libgmp
- libiconv
- libintl
- libltdl
- libunistring
- libgc
and cygwin itself
I am using a parallel installation to see if
building guile without having it installed works or not.

The closest of these in terms of update time relative to the date this
started to fail for me would be libgc-7.6.0-1 update I installed on May
12th. gdb-ing into the stuck guile process shows about multiple threads
in a waiting state:
(gdb) info thr

and several of those waits do originate in cyggc-1.dll.

reverting to
libgc-devel 7.2d-2 OK
libgc1 7.2d-2 OK
seems to unblock guile.

Confirmed. gdb gets through its build process again after downgrading
to libgc1 version 7.2d-2
