Earnie,

Did the output of "cygcheck cvs" look ok? Would trying to re-install
cygwin do any good, do you think? Thanks

Chuck

Yes, the cygcheck cvs looks fine. No, re-installing Cygwin won't
correct the problem. I stated the problem in my previous mail which is
quoted below, do you understand what I'm saying?

Earnie.

I've recently installed cygwin and the cygwin version
of tcsh. It is a big improvement over the older version
of tcsh (not bundled with cygwin).

Everything works well except for command editing. If I insert
characters, the display overwrites and occasionally shifts right.
The underlying data is correct (i.e., the characters are inserted
into the line). Command editing works fine with the bash
shell.

I checked stty. It leaves "echoe" and "echoctl" while bash turns
these off. "stty -echoe" does not change the flag.

Any ideas?

Your PWD and HOME are using c:/ absolute style paths. With the current
release and prior releases this will cause any files opened to be
processed in text mode since it bypasses the Cygwin mount table and text
mode is the default. I suspect that this is your problem.

Earnie.

We need to see the output of `cygcheck -s -r -v'.

I've just noticed that cvs.exe that comes with cygwin checks out cvs
controlled files with the dos line endings, i.e. each line has a ^M at
the end. This can be verified this by invoking "cat -v" on a checked
out file. When I installed cygwin, I specified unix line endings. Is
there a way to get checked out files to have unix style line endings?
