[ANNOUNCEMENT] Updated: xorg-server-1.18.0-1 (TEST)

The following packages have been updated in the Cygwin distribution:

*** xorg-server-*1.18.0-1

These packages contain XWin and the other X.Org X11 servers.

This is the first release of the xserver 1.18 series.  It is currently 
available as a test release, and will be made stable in approximately 
two weeks, if no major regressions are reported.

Please try test releases and report problems to the Cygwin mailing list. 
Testing helps ensure good releases!

In addition to upstream fixes and improvements [1][2][3], the following 
cygwin-specific changes have been made since 1.17.4-1:

* The internal window manager for multiwindow mode has been converted 
from libX11 to xcb
* The obsolete, undocumented -internalwm option is accepted but ignored.
* In multiwindow mode, _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_SPLASH_SCREEN, used by some 
clients in error, is accepted as equivalent to the correct 
_NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_SPLASH
* In multiwindow mode, gtk+ applications with client-side decorations 
but a window manager frame (e.g. gedit 3.14) should now be given a 
resizeable frame, when appropriate.
* Remove the "Applications" submenu from the default XWinrc for new 
installations, as redundant to xwin-xdg-menu.
* In multiwindow mode, handle _NET_WM_STATE messages to maximize, 
iconify and restore.

NOTE: If you have customized your XWin startup to use the '-mwextwm 
-internalwm' options (why?), they should be changed to '-multiwindow'.

The following cygwin-specific changes have been made since 1.17.2-3:

* Fix compilation with gcc5
* Fix a crash which occurs if focus returns to XWin after xkbcomp has 
failed (Thanks to Colin Harrison for the patch)
* Fix a crash which could occur in reloading XWinrc when not in 
multiwindow mode
* Fix mis-handling of WM_DISPLAYCHANGE in windowed mode, eventually 
leading to a crash
* Avoid a re-entrancy scenario which was incorrectly handled, probably 
leading to a crash

These crash fixes were made possible due to crash reports submitted 
using the experimental xorg-server-cygwin-crashreporter package. Thanks!

[ANNOUNCEMENT] Updated: xorg-server-1.18.3-1

The following packages have been updated in the Cygwin distribution:

*** xorg-server-*1.18.3-1

These packages contain XWin and the other X.Org X11 servers.

In addition to upstream fixes [1], the following cygwin-specific changes 
have been made since 1.18.2-1:

* In multiwindow mode, enable the -compositewm option by default, so 
top-level window contents which are occluded are shown correctly in task 
bar and task switcher previews.  Add a -nocompositewm option so it can 
be disabled.
* Fix any custom sysmenu configured in .XWinrc not being used when 
window is initially shown (Thanks to Colin Harrison)

It works fine for me, with cygwin 32 bit under Windows 7 Pro 32 bit,  
although my CPU is actually 64 bit.  Let me know if you want any other  
details about my system.

Thanks for the confirmation.

After a reboot the 32 bit restarted to work, I suspect there was
some type of race and XWin was always loosing.

I am back to the *normal* with both versions, where normal means
only the first race is usually lost but all the successive are fine.

May be WOW need more time to load dll's.
