It has finally arrived! GNU Ghostscript 5.50-1!

This is located in cygwin/contrib.

The reason for using GNU Ghostscript is due its use of the
GNU GPL. In the future, we may review the Alladin license
and use that one instead.

NOTE: This program requires files from the xfree86:

(see FAQ: http://xfree86.cygwin.com/faq.html )

I have included the fonts which get installed to the
/usr/share/ghostscript/fonts directory.

You can find documentation in /usr/doc/gs5.50. These are all
html files, so use lynx, w3m or some other browser to view
these files. (NOTE: I have ported lynx and w3m if anyone is
interested)

===================================================================
PLEASE READ THE README FILE: /usr/doc/Cygwin/gs5.50.README
===================================================================

The mirror sites will get this version at least tomorrow.

I checked the mirrors and found at least one mirror (ftp.nas.nasa.gov)
to already have this package.

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin web page. This downloads setup.exe
to your system.

Run setup and answer all of the questions. I won't ask you to use a
mirror site, because that's all that's currently available. The
'sources.redhat.com' site has had downloading disabled.

Note that if this is the first time that you've run the new GUI version
of setup, it will currently download the whole cygwin net release again.
After this point it will only download what is needed.

If you have questions or comments, please send them to the Cygwin
mailing list at: cygwin@sources.redhat.com . I would appreciate
if you would use this mailing list rather than emailing me directly.
This includes ideas and comments about the setup utility or Cygwin
in general.

If you want to make a point or ask a question the Cygwin mailing list is
the appropriate place.

I'm very interested in your Cygwin w3m port. Please post your patches
to cygwin-apps.

Thanks,
Jason

Would it be possibile to place binaries in cygwin/contrib also?
Or at least put the sources or some information re the port somewhere?

I think the port of lynx linked from the cygwin site has an 'error' relating
to its use of cp (mentioned last month in another thread), so if you have a
fully working port it would be nice if the rest of us could get our hands on
it ;-)

hadn't really heard of w3m till u mentioned it, but having done a bit of
reading on the web, it also looks like something that would be nice to play
with at some point.

so please, pretty please, pretty please with sugar on top ;-)

A little while ago i actually took a peek at www.w3m.org, and there are
references to cygwin itself, and in /download/binary/i386, there do seem to
be binaries (although for 0.1.9 rather than 0.1.10). I did quickly download
and run one of the binaries...seemed to work fine...but text didn't seem to
wrap properly....dunno whether that's a bug in w3m fullstop, or just in that
particalar binary.

Thanks for that patch Volker :-) I'll try it later today, maybe it might
even fix the wrapping problem.

Thanks for your patch.

I was able to build w3m-0.1.10 after applying it with only one minor
hiccup. I applied your patch and then ran configure. Due to this, I
had to re-comment out #define INET6 in config.h. Should I have applied
your patch after running configure?

Otherwise, w3m built cleanly.

Have you submitted your patch so hopefully the next version of w3m will
build OOTB under Cygwin?

Thanks,
Jason

The patch needs to alter configure.in, not configure & config.h

Unfortunately, w3m does *not* use autoconf. Sigh...

Yes, I forget to mention it. configure seems to detect ipv6 support.
I also commented it out by hand.

I've tried without success to build the latest w3m sources (w3m-0.2.4.tar)
on Windows 2000 (through Cygwin). I see others having the same problem, so
thought I'd try to find the compiled binaries:

Yes, I'm interested! Failing that, does the following indicate that the
binaries are somewhere in www.cygwin.com? I could not find them:
