Subject: Problems running eclipse snapshot
Date: Sun, 10 Aug 2003 10:43:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <200308101342.14092.oded@m-wise.com> (raw)

Hi list.

First - thanks for the all the work on getting eclipse to run with GCJ.

I've downloaded the snapshot from http://people.redhat.com/~jhealy/eclipse/
and installed it as well as gcj-ssa and oprofile. I'm running Mandrake 9 and
has their libgcj4 package already installed.

Now, I'm having an issue which prevent me from using the gcj eclipse :

- I can't create a java project, nor add a JRE to the java->installed JREs
sheet in properties: every time I try I get this error - "provider
org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl not found".
I've tried to look for this class and found it in the IBM's JRE I have
installed, and also in the plugins directory of eclipse, but I can't figure
out how to let eclipse know where it is.

- after running eclipse for the first time, it creates the workspace directory
(under my home directory, which is fromwhere I'm running it). not setting
anything at all, I then close the workbench and restart it, at which time it
fails to load with an error that instructs me to look in the log file.
looking in the log file, it also complains about not finding the xerces
class.

What can I do ?

TIA
