            Bug ID: 1001798
Summary: adding a package (epk-file) fails
           Product: eCos
           Version: 3.0
            Target: Custom (Customer specific)
  Architecture/Host ARM
                OS:
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: low
         Component: ConfigTool
          Assignee: unassigned@bugs.ecos.sourceware.org
          Reporter: Bob.Brusa@gmail.com
                CC: ecos-bugs@ecos.sourceware.org

Created attachment 2128
  --> http://bugs.ecos.sourceware.org/attachment.cgi?id=2128&action=edit
definition of a AT91SAM7x-based-platform with several templates

When adding a package (epk-file) with configtool>Tools>Administration>Add...
and selecting the epk-file, it does absolutely nothing - not even an error
message.

I know that my epk-file is ok, because on an older PC with W-xp, adding it with
configtool works. Now I am working on a W7 64-bit PC which I set up app.
something like 3 month ago. Cygwin is Version 1.7.17 and tcl 8.5.11-1

I then went on, trying to add the package "manually", but even the simplest
case, where I had copied the epk file in the packages folder of ecos failed. It
produced the following output:

rwb@w500 /cygdrive/c/cygwin/opt/ecos/packages
$ tclsh ecosadmin.tcl add icb_net.epk
ecosadmin error: parsing /cygdrive/c/cygwin/opt/ecos/ecos.db:
couldn't open "/cygdrive/c/cygwin/opt/ecos/ecos.db": no such file or directory

Something seems broken with tcl 8.5.11 because it tries to find the ecos.db at
an unusal place.

admindlg-130315.patch

patch is new to me and not surprisingly, I have problems with it. What I did
is:
-open the file admindlg-130315.patch in bugzilla + copy/paste it to a file
admindlg.patch - in the same folder (packages) as ecosadmin.tcl
- open cygwin Terminal - cd to ...packages and then run the program. What I get
is:
rwb@w500 /cygdrive/c/cygwin/opt/ecos/packages
$ patch <admindlg.patch
(Stripping trailing CRs from patch.)
patching file ChangeLog
Hunk #1 FAILED at 1.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file ChangeLog.rej
(Stripping trailing CRs from patch.)
can't find file to patch at input line 28
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?

> Sorry, I do not understand what you mean with your Comment 5.

The patch I attached to this bug report has now been incorporated into the eCos
CVS repository. The implication is that the next release or snapshot build of
the eCos Configuration Tool should no-longer exhibit the erroneous behaviour
you reported.

For avoidance of doubt, this issue has been resolved by modifying the eCos
Configuration Tool source code to accommodate the behaviour of Cygwin Tcl
8.5.x.

Your Comment #7

....the next release or snapshot build of the eCos Configuration Tool...

Ok. Do you already know when this updated Tool will become available? I am
afraid, an attempt to build it from the (updated) source now available from CVS
would be a rather time-consuming task.
